Sports massage is not just for athletes, it can help anyone with injury or dysfunction. A sports massage session will involve techniques such as soft tissue release, neuromuscular and muscle energy techniques and PNF stretching.
For athletes sports massage can be pre and post event, enabling you to properly train for and prepare for an event and to recover from it afterwards.
Sports massage is historically focused on the area of injury; I will generally incorporate sports massage techniques and K-Tape in with my Myofascial work. As a teenager I was champion BMX racer and played American Football (running back) for the Windsor Monarchs. I rowed at school and also studied Karate and Judo. As an adult I trained for many years under Shifu Shi Yanzi at the Shaolin Temple UK and represented them at national level (full contact). In the past I have trained Muay Thai (and taught yoga at) at the famous Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand. I have spent many years studying Thai Boxing at the world famous KO Gym in East London and also spent four years training in MMA at London Shootfighters. I have spent two years power lifting and once I reached my goals with that switched to Olympic lifting so I know what it means to train and compete seriously a variety of sports and all the injuries that come with that!
